Hindu marriages comprise of rituals and elaborate celebrations. Most Hindu wedding ceremony mostly lasts for four to five days. We at New1 take an active part in providing the best service in organising pre-wedding rituals, and post-wedding rituals accordingly
WEDDING RITUALS IN AN HINDU MARRIAGE:
Var Mala: This means the groom is taken to the scaffold where he showered with flowers from the bride's side, and the grooms family saves him with their shield this a kind of traditional, then the bride goes around the groom circling the groom four times. As soon as, the groom and bride exchange garlands or "var mala" signifying their acceptance of each other as husband and wife. The grooms, mother puts kajal and performs Arti to ward off evil spirits to complete the ceremony, this custom denotes the originality of the main wedding ceremony. The grooms dhoti or kurta is then tied to the bride’s saree denoting that they are in sacred wedlock. The groom and the bride then take seven circles called "phere", taking seven vows to show that they have entered in matrimony.
Phere: The Bride and the groom then take seven circles of the havan taking seven vows, which are:

Kanya Daan: Father of the bride then hands his daughter over to the groom , as a tradition the groom recites Vedic hymns to Kama the god of love and blessings.
Vidaai: The bride bids a tearful farewelll to all her elders and parents, as she leaves for the grooms’ house, all the elders in the family shower the couple with good memories and blessings.
Christian Wedding Planner
Christian weddings also follow certain rituals and customs, accordingly. Christian weddings could be with or without a ‘mass’. But preferably people opt for weddings in presence of holy mass for some extra blessings to their marriage. Pre-Rituals, Rituals
Arrival at the Church: As tradition goes the groom first reaches the church and then waits fo the bride to arrive. When the bride arrives at the church , the best man, welcomes her with a kiss and a wedding bouquet. Then the priest escorts the couple into the Church, and the choir welcomes the bride and the groom with a special song, as they walk towards the altar to begin the ceremony.
The Wedding Mass: The ceremony begins. The Priest begins by welcoming the bride and groom into the Church and proffers them his good wishes. The choir begins with an song, and thereafter the bridesmaid(the maid of honour) and an elder from either party read the Word of God from the holy (Bible). Later, the priest delivers the sermon, where he explains the sanctity of marriage.
The Nuptials: During the nuptials the couple is in the presence of the priest and the witnesses ask the couple whether, the have come together to marry in their own free will or not. The couple have to answer honestly and maintain the sanctity of the church
The Solemn Promise: Here the couple is asked to read the vows they have for each other, and then traditionally they have to follow accordingly to the guidance of the Priest. Then the couple is asked to join their right hand, which symbolises union. The individual repeat the following after the priest, “ I, _____, take you, ______, to be my wedded wife. With deepest joy I receive you into my life that together we may be one. As is Christ to His body, the church, so I will be to you a loving and faithful husband.
Exchange of Rings: Holy Water given on the joined hands for blessing by the priest and also to the rings so that the couple that wears them will live happily ever after and should have faith in each other, do the Lord's will and always live together in peace, goodwill and love. Then the couple put them on each other's fingers with these words - 'With this ring I wed thee, in the name of the father and of the son and of the Holy Spirit, Amen". Then the groom lifts the veil of the bride and kisses her, to symbolise that they are one in holy matrimony.
Prayer Service: The mass proceeds with the prayers of the faithful, petitions for blessings on the couple,and the offertory procession takes place, where the members of the family offer , candles, flowers, fruits, Bible and rosaries that are symbolic of a happy married life, the priest blesses them, and the wine and water is carried by the bride and groom to the altar which symbolises the body and blood of Christ, the priest blesses the couple. The Priest then precedes with the holy Mass and the final part of the Mass the Holy Communion, followed by the last blessing.
Nuptial Blessing and the Recessional: The Priest then blesses the couple, and asks them to sign the register, which provides as a valid legal document of marriage. The copy of this document is sent to the Registrar of Marriages. The couple then walks down the aisle as husband and wife, as the Wedding March is played , after that they meet and greet family remembers and pose for photo session at the altar.
Reception: The post wedding ceremony is celebrated with relatives, friends, and colleagues are invited to a grand gathering. They newly wedded couple cut wedding cake and feed each a bite of the first slice. In honour of the newly-weds the Toastmaster proposes a toast. The bride and groom get time for their ‘first dance'. Then the traditional Wedding March is played by the hosted Band, and then the Bride & the groom have their first dance as husband and wife, and the rest follow. After that the well-wishers meet and greet the couple, and then dinner is served. The last but not least ceremony of the evening is the throwing away of the bouquet. The girl who gets it will be the first to marry, according to the belief.
The marriage in Muslims strictly demands that no two people should be forced into wedlock. The Nikah, takes place in presence of a Maulvi who reads verses from the Quran and asks for the proposal (from the side of groom) and acceptance (from the bride's side). Ijab-e-Qubul also involves the acceptance from the bride regarding the amount of dowry, which has been pre-decided., in front of two witnesses.
A typical Muslim wedding is celebrated with great grandeur over a period of five days and can be held at either the bride's or the groom's place or elsewhere.
Pre-Wedding Rituals
Legan Chir: The groom's father sends some cash to the bride.
Mangni or Engagement: Depict the exchanging of rings, the couple is not supposed to see each other after the engagement.
Day 1& Day 2 ceremonies: The bride & groom visit each other's families. The children light candles before entering the houses. Then, the dinner is served to the guest and songs are sung teasing the couple.
Mehndi Ceremony: This ritual takes place at the bride's home on the eve of the wedding day or some days before it, where haldi is smeared all over her body, and Mehndi is applied on the hands and the feet of the bride, followed by song and dance. this ceremony the girl is not supposed to step out of the house before marriage.
Arrival Of The Groom: The groom arrives, with a procession of friends and relatives either on a horseback or in a car, with the music and beating of drums on his arrival. The e groom exchanges a sharbet (a sweet drink) and money with the bride's brother. The bride's sisters welcome the barat by humorously hitting them with sticks wrapped with flowers.
Wedding Ceremony
Nikah: The bride and the groom sitting in separate rooms or in the same room separated by a curtain though it is not in case of all the weddings. The elders decide the meher, which is a fixed amount of money given by the groom's family to the bride's.
The Qazi reads verses from Quran and asks the bride for her agreement to accept the meher and the groom as her husband. Once she gives her consent, the Qazi reads this Nikah-nama or the marriage contract to the groom. After consent is received from the groom, the Nikah-nama has to be signed by the couple,in front of the witnesses. After this, the groom goes and meets and greets the bride's family by presenting them with gifts, and then a feast is served.
When the meal is over, the bride and the groom are made to sit together with a long scarf covering their heads and the priest makes them read prayers. They are then asked to see each other's reflections in a mirror and Holy Quran is kept between them. Dried dates, and a sweet dish are served to the guests which are religiously significant. The groom then spends the night in the bride;s house where he sleeps in the younger brother's room The next morning, the bride's parents shower the groom with gifts.
